Brown injury likely to hand Haunstrup extended run

KENNY JACKETT has confirmed that Lee Brown will be sidelined for around six weeks after picking up an Achilles injury in the 3-3 home draw against Coventry City.

Brandon Haunstrup is likely to fill in for Brown starting with the Carabao Cup game at QPR on Wednesday.

The news is also likely to see James Meredith, 31, offered a short-term deal at Fratton Park with the former Millwall left back currently training with Pompey.

Jackett said: “Lee’s got an Achilles injury and we’re estimating that the total time he’ll be out will be around six weeks.

“Our focus now is on Brandon. He’s 22 and it’s time for him to do well – he’s certainly capable of doing that.”

On Meredith, Jackett added: “James has had a few days training with us and that will continue. He’s an experienced player and Brandon is currently our only naturally left-footed player.”
