Jackett’s men handed home tie against the Iron in EFL last eight

POMPEY have been drawn at home to Scunthorpe United in the quarter-finals of the Leasing.com Trophy.

The draw was made live on talkSPORT on Thursday with the tie to be played at Fratton Park in the week beginning January 20. Portsmouth earned their place in the last eight thanks to goals from John Marquis and Ellis Harrison in their game at Walsall on Tuesday night.

Holders Pompey and their fans will be hoping to make a return to Wembley and will be confident of overcoming League Two side Scunthorpe and making it through to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Ronan Curtis made it consecutive player of the month awards by picking up the PFA Bristol Street Motors League One prize for December.

Curtis took the honour in November as well, turning his season around after being dropped by manager Kenny Jackett earlier in the campaign. He has scored eight goals in his last 11 appearances for Pompey.

In a public vote the Pompey winger topped the poll ahead of Burton’s Liam Boyce, Rotherham’s Michael Ihiekwe, Bristol Rovers’ Anssi Jaakola, Accrington’s Sean McConville and AFC Wimbledon’s Joe Pigott.

• Portsmouth have announced that the home game against Sunderland on February 1 is now officially sold out. The two teams played each other on five occasions last season with Pompey famously beating their north east rivals in the EFL Trophy Final before succumbing to the Wearsiders in the League One play-off semi-final.
