Statement puts a halt to football until April 30 at the earliest

A STATEMENT issued on behalf of the Football Association, the English Football League and the Premier League has put football on hold until at least April 30.

The move means the postponement of Portsmouth’s home games against Blackpool, Bristol Rovers, Accrington Stanley and Doncaster, along with away clashes at Ipswich, Oxford, Rotherham and Southend. At present, the final game at Burton on May 3 is still on the calendar.

The Football Association has also agreed that the current season can be “extended indefinitely” beyond the original end date of June 1.

The statement expressed “a commitment to finding ways of resuming the 2019-20 season” and completing all domestic and European matches “as soon as it is safe and possible to do so”.
